Roselini the Magical Princess

There once danced a magical princess who liked to sew
or rather a princess that was very magical
Her name was Roselini
And she was a princess
made mostly of roses and honey

despite her birth she followed along
a Mexican circus howbeit unique

For it was full of magical Hadas
along with occasional
dark-skinned freaks

oh! they loved our dear princess
for a passion and kindness
despite a shyness
unrivaled by many

It fueled her magic
which helped her expression
For Roselini was mute
and could not speak any

Her magic came out
in the garments she made
which begot feelings of
roses in bloom

And the faces she painted
for acts and performance
sparkled like honey
kissed by the moon

she also made jewelry
with a love and a passion
the spirited faeries
had never quite seen

This made her jewelry
especially precious
producing a love
that was magically keen

Though speechless and shy
Roselini was famous
For her kindness to others
throughout all the land

She made clothes with magic
which brought cheer to tragic
orphans who were sad
or needed a hand

the faces she painted
enchanted large crowds
and her jewelry freed minds
of many that were cowed

In one special case
she used her passion
livened the rags of a dark skinned freak

And as token of his gratitude
He gave her five balloons
with eyes and humor
and mouths that could speak

Roselini clutched the balloons
but their strings slipped away
and they quickly began
to rise in the air

Amongst their talk they did not notice
and all she could do was
not speak but only stare

She chased them out the of circus
and down a lengthy hill
she followed them from bright chirps
until silence made her still

She knew not where she was
and the sun would soon to set
her cheerful mileau was gray
and she wondered where the songbirds went

Then she jumped at the sight
of a fallen song bird
It looked drained and dying
with a voice deeply stirred

that's when Mosquito fiends
in top hats and canes
loomed from out of wood

"We want your blood princess Roselini
for it's as sweet as honey
and will do our bodies good!"

Roselini cried out
for distant help
from her carnival Faye and freaks

But without a voice
her calls were mute
and the mosquitoes came closer to eat

The princess clutched her necklace and cried
when something odd occurred

The necklace rose
with a brilliant light
and her voice was that of a songbird

It was loud though graceful
the voice of an angel
calling the balloons
to come to her aide

They flew down as she clutched their strings
and then they swept up and zoomed away

not far behind the mosquitoes gave chase
getting close before slowing down

and each time they came close
they popped one balloon
Coercing them to move faster
with tears and a frown

Soon only one remained
and it carried the princess
at a slow-moving smooth descent

when suddenly there was a wailing
followed by pop!
and Roselini fell from the sky
and through the roof of a circus tent

The surrounding crowd gasped
the ring master blushed
and she sat atop a pair of acrobats

She stared at the crowd
both frightened and sad
for it was taboo to ruin an act

the crowd murmured in confusion
which rose to loud rants
For entertainers are loved
So long as they enchant

Roselini clutched her necklace
as tears came down
and out loud
she started to sob

But her sobs came out as beautiful music
that wrenched attention from the mob

Roselini's sweet voice
beamed as a light
pausing movement in and outside the tent

Some people cried
others rejoiced
and when she stopped
was given a standing ovation

By everyone: audience, the performers,
Faye and freak, clapped in praise to
Roselini's song

So she stood and curtsied
with a smile and a wave
saying "Gracias" to the enormous throng

She was no longer shy
for she'd found a voice
despite her losses
no uno o dos

she smiled
for her magic would shine even brighter
and she could help those who would need it most

THE END...
